You may remember the Crown Victoria model by Ford. Used by thousands of police districts across the country, it became an iconic part of law enforcement. Today, all of the Detroit Three offer police and fire departments a variety of models, ranging from rough-and-ready pickup trucks to SUVs and speedy sedans.
Dodge, for its part, is coming out strong and advertising its 2014 Dodge Durango to firefighters and law enforcement officials. These types of vehicles have become rather popular in multiple media outlets, and the Detroit Three and spending a good bit of time focusing on them.
The 2014 Dodge Durango Special Service Vehicle is a beefed-up version of the standard Durango, and it's set to arrive at the end of this year or early next year. Though the vehicle isn't "pursuit rated," meaning it won't be chasing down culprits any time soon, it still will provide some excellent feature for fire and police departments, as well as other fleet buyers.
Some of these amenities include heavy duty versions of the vehicle's water pump, batter, alternator and brakes. These will assure that those sitting for long periods of time can keep their communications gear going and their vehicle temperature nice and comfortable.
So, what do you think, reader? Is the Dodge Durango ready for some police work, or would you rather see it used for standard purposes and parked in your own garage? If your answer is the latter, don't hesitate to drop by Morehart Murphy Regional Auto Center, located in Durango, CO, for a test drive, today.
